Seatrium wins contract to upgrade FLNG vessel for redeployment in Argentina

Singapore’s Seatrium has secured a contract from Golar LNG subsidiary Golar Hilli Corporation to upgrade the Hilli Episeyo FLNG vessel for redeployment offshore Argentina, the company said on Wednesday.

The vessel is scheduled to enter the yard in the third quarter of 2026 for modifications ahead of a 20-year deployment in the Gulf of San Matias, where it will liquify gas from Argentina’s onshore Vaca Muerta Shale formation.

The scope includes engineering, procurement of long-lead items, life extension, winterisation and installation of a soft-yoke mooring system.

The Hilli Episeyo, with a nameplate capacity of 2.45 million tonnes per year, is expected to resume operations in 2027.

“FLNG Hilli Episeyo is a testament to the strong track record of the projects we have delivered to Golar over the years,” Seatrium executive vice-president Marlin Khiew said.

The project reflects Seatrium’s broader efforts to support the energy transition, with LNG as a transition fuel. The group has previously delivered FLNG Hilli Episeyo in 2017 and FLNG Gimi in 2023 to Golar.

Seatrium is a Singapore-based global solutions provider specialising in engineering, procurement, construction, upgrading and repair of offshore and marine assets. It has extensive capabilities in LNG systems and floating energy solutions, including dual-fuel and LNG-powered vessels.

Golar LNG is a specialist in floating LNG infrastructure, including liquefaction and regasification units. It owns and operates a fleet of FLNG vessels globally and supports gas monetisation projects in emerging markets.
